The American Academy School in Zarqa launched its new academic year with a community-driven initiative, organizing a large-scale cleanup campaign along the Zarqa–Sukhna road. Students, administrators, and scouts joined forces to collect and properly sort roadside litter, reinforcing the school’s commitment to social responsibility and environmental awareness.
The event was led by the academy’s founder, Mr. Nabil Al-Far, alongside the school principal, staff members, and students. The campaign also saw strong participation from Eng. Hussein Bolad, head of the Hashimiyah Municipality Committee, and Mr. Abdulrazzaq Al-Qallab, the local district director.
Mr. Al-Far emphasized that the cleanup is the first in a series of initiatives designed to keep public spaces clean, stating:
“This effort reflects our academy’s mission to instill values of responsibility and service in our students. It also aligns with the vision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II and his ‘Your Country is Your Home’ initiative, which calls for greater volunteerism and preservation of Jordan’s natural and cultural landmarks to support tourism.”
Municipality chief Eng. Bolad praised the school’s effort, noting that such activities encourage both public and private schools to follow suit.
“Keeping our streets clean not only beautifies our cities but also builds a sense of civic responsibility among our youth,” he said, adding that the municipality is ready to support and coordinate with institutions to sustain similar initiatives.
Ms. Tamara Doka, academic director of the school’s main branch, highlighted that the academy’s annual activities program will feature tree planting, curb painting, and continued street-cleaning efforts.
“Our goal is to raise a generation that values commitment, patriotism, and care for their environment,” she said.
International education consultant Ms. Nastaran Nastinka Morgan, who recently joined the academy, shared her personal experience:
“I initially asked for tools to clean my own neighborhood with my daughter, but I was moved to see the entire administration—led by Mr. Nabil Al-Far and his wife—take part in the cleanup. It was inspiring, and it reflects the genuine sense of citizenship I’ve seen in the Jordanian people.”
The American Academy School’s initiative serves as a reminder of the role educational institutions can play in promoting volunteerism, environmental stewardship, and national pride.
